Mark Clarke is the Managing Director of Clarke Health and Safety Limited and began his career as a scaffolder. He moved into management within the scaffolding industry and held positions such as shut down manager and project manager for Shell UK. Mark moved into Health and Safety in 1990 and spent four years on Shell Oil Refinery. In 1994 he became the Health and Safety Adviser for one of the UK’s largest scaffold contractors and in 2000 he undertook a new position at one of the UK’s largest construction companies as their Regional Safety Manager. In July 2005 Clarke Health and Safety Consultancy Limited was formed. At present the company is working on three large construction projects in the North West providing a professional health and safety consultancy service which includes site inspections, training analysis, and on and off site training. Clarke Health and Safety Limitied also provides preparation of company policies and procedures, safety audits and company training analysis, preparation and delivery of training courses, site inspections and scaffold inspections. Mark has over thirty years experience in the construction and scaffolding industry and has worked in health and safety for the past sixteen years. He has also worked for Bluestone Plc one of the UK’s largest construction companies. Mark was co-author of the NASC’s SG4:00 and SG4:05. Mark works closely with the HSE and the NASC and is a guest speaker at many Health and Safety Seminars in the UK.
